Pinch Me...I am Dreaming

If anyone were to walk into our classroom this week, they would have had no idea it was the first week of Kindergarten.  In fact, other students and teachers HAVE noticed while we've been walking in line in the hallways and getting so many compliments.  Parents, you would be so proud of your children if you had been a fly on the wall this week.  Everyone has been so kind, respectful and AWESOME Wildcats.

Here are some things we've been doing this week:

We've practiced breakfast procedures.  Every morning we eat breakfast in our room.  It is part of the universal breakfast program.

We explored math tools like play-doh and five-frames, teddy bear counters, dice, and snap cubes.

We received two different shirts!  One was a purple Dana shirt to show our Wildcat pride on Wednesdays and one was a Class of 2029 shirt.  I told our students to keep it somewhere safe so they could find it and wear it when they are seniors in high school. (That's why it's so big!)

We played outside.

We took brain breaks to keep moving and adjust our little bodies to working so hard! We use Go Noodle and you can also create an account at home!

We even began working in collaborative pairs.  This is a way for everyone to communicate and share what they are thinking and learning.

It was such a great week!  We are looking forward to all the learning and fun we are going to do next week.  Enjoy this holiday weekend.  It's supposed to be a beautiful one.  My family and I are traveling to Virginia for a lake weekend except a Hurricane/Tropical Storm Hermine may make it a wet one!
