Color Days!

Color Days are coming and will begin next week.  We not only learn about the color, but we learn about how to spell it and read and sing poems about the different colors.  We do the colors in the order of the story "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"  Of course, we always wear purple on Wednesdays.

Buzzmob

Parents who are new to Dana may be having trouble getting onto Buzzmob.  This is because we are in the process of updating to the new app.  Mr. Pruitt is working on this and will be getting information out very soon so you can be a part of our Buzzmob community.  Thank you for your patience!

Kindergarten T-Shirts

On Wednesday, August 28th the kindergarteners had a special delivery from Henderson County Public Schools and our community.  They received "Class of 2028" shirts.  They are really big now so they can grow into them when they become seniors!

Here we are wearing our new shirts!

Kindergarten Parent Breakfast

On Wednesday morning at 8:00, there will be a breakfast in the cafeteria for kindergarten parents.  Share a meal with other moms and dads after dropping your child off in his or her classroom.  Celebrate this huge milestone!

The First Days

The first two days of kindergarten have been busy but smooth.  Tomorrow all 24 of our friends show up together!  Please be patient with your little one during this transition.  Their minds and bodies are adjusting to their new routines.

I hope to post some pictures from our first week as soon as I receive all the media release forms.  If you have not turned that form in, please do so as soon as possible.  In the meantime, download Buzzmob Classic on your smartphone or tablet and join Dana School.  We post pictures throughout the day of our fun activities!

Headphones and a Change of Clothes

Two things were left off the Kindergarten supply list.  Please be sure to send in a pair of headphones and a change of clothes to keep in your child's cubby.  The change of clothes can be put in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child's name.  Headphones are used in class on computers and iPads as well as in the computer lab during digital literacy.  Thank you for these additional items!

Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year!

Summer is coming to an end and a new school year is about to begin.  For some of you, this may be a new experience as you send your first kindergartener to school.  For some, you may have done this before with an older child.  Either way, it is an exciting and emotional time.  Last year I sent my oldest child to kindergarten and I was able to experience all the firsts as a teacher and a parent.  Please be assured your child is in good hands and that we take great responsibility in teaching and guiding your child.

The first week will be filled with quite a bit of new information.  Please be sure to check your child's backpack and folder each night for paperwork and/or notes.  On your child's first day (which will either be Monday or Tuesday depending on which day your child comes) there will be a welcome pack that has more information about me, our classroom management and rules, our schedule, and a student information sheet for you to fill out.  Starting Monday, August 31, a class newsletter will be sent home each week that has important dates and what we are learning.  You can also check the blog for updates.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or the school if you have an questions or concerns.  We are a team!
